What is TNVR and why do our outdoor cat communities desperately need it?

Rescue saves lives.
TNVR prevents more lives from needing to be saved.
Our cat communities need both.

There are many reasons that our cat population is out of control. Not all outside cats are feral. Some are lost. Some are abandoned and simply given up on. These cats need to be rescued, but not all cats are great candidates for indoor living and this is where TNVR comes into play.

It sounds simple…humanely trap a cat, transport it to a vet, have a health exam performed, spay or neuter and vaccinate it,  put the cat back in the cage, transport it back to the original territory, and release it…easy peasy!

TNVR is actually a very complicated procedure that requires time, money, manpower, and lots of patience. The colony feeder is required to assist in the rescue from the very beginning  and required to continue monitoring the colony after the release. This monitoring ensures that any other cat joining the colony can be caught and spayed before breeding can occur or any illness can be introduced into the colony.

The timing is also dependent on the availability of veterinary appointments. With the ever growing cat population, there is great demand for low cost spays and neuters. Wait times can be long and Bad Kitty Rescue currently does not have a facility to hold these cats for long periods of time.

Bad Kitty Animal Rescue is continuing to grow in leaps and bounds. At this time we are not accepting requests for large cat colony TNVR. As our donation base grows and our manpower increases, we will be accepting more requests. If you have been feeding a large cat colony and need assistance, please contact us at info@badkittyrescue.com. We may be able to answer any questions or steer you in the right direction.
